Residence C: A Delicate and Tranquil Hotel-Like Home

Unveiling the Subtle Beauty of Residence C

Tchin tchin. Strolling in a house might be a kind of art, like pouring some wine slowly into a bottle. Then swirl the transparent glass, for each drop from the Grand Cru Classé of Bordeaux to rotate. As the lively dill fragrance of the black oak floor encounters and enriches the smooth room of pandomo floor, the tiles with rusty iron pattern add a sense of chill like strong tannins among the reflection of bronze mirror and titanium plating to cast off the underripe crease.

Residence C, designed by Yi-Ching Lin and Shih-Ming Lu, is a residential house that exudes elegance and tranquility. With its unique blend of materials and attention to detail, this design stands out from the rest.

Walk into the domain, and the subtle and steady dark color emits a mature and tranquil atmosphere. The choice of materials, such as rust-like sheets with low reflectivity and unrefined quality, and titanium metal wrapped in walnut veneered rims, adds to the design's distinctiveness. The piping closet, wrapped with silver candle glasses, adds a touch of sophistication. With soft and indirect lighting, the unique characteristics of each different material brew contrast dialogues, creating a visually captivating space.

The design of Residence C is not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional. The layout is arranged in progressive layers, with the floor transitioning from the entrance to the public area, extending to the living room and kitchen as coherent surfaces. The boundary between the public area and the private bedroom corridor serves as a dividing line, using the difference in floor material colors to create a visual contrast. Additionally, the bathroom, located on the dark-colored corridor floor, acts as a lightbox, capturing attention in the narrow and seemingly black hole-like corridor.

Residence C, located in northwestern Taiwan, was completed between May 2012 and July 2015. The design team, consisting of Yi-Ching Lin and Shih-Ming Lu, meticulously crafted this space, paying attention to every detail.

This exceptional design has been recognized for its excellence. Residence C was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2017. This prestigious accolade is bestowed upon designs that exhibit outstanding creativity, resourcefulness, and technical skills. Residence C showcases the best practices in art, science, design, and technology, contributing to improvements in quality of life and making the world a better place.

Residence C is a testament to the artistry and innovation of Yi-Ching Lin and Shih-Ming Lu. Their meticulous attention to detail and unique design choices have created a hotel-like home that exudes tranquility and sophistication.
